My name is Robbie Martin and recently I was involved in the campaign to form Shipley Town Council. The campaign was successful and Shipley Town Council came into being in 2020.
Much of the campaign meant that I spoke to established Local/Parish councils in Bradford and beyond. I met some passionate and hard working people who for no financial return worked together to improve and protect the area they lived in.
Local councils do not get much in the way of positive publicity so my next idea was to make radio programmes highlighting the work and the people who make up the local councils in the Bradford District.
These programmes would explore how local councils work and encourage more people to become involved.
This first “pilot” programme which was broadcast on BCB 106.6fm on Sunday 11th December features Shipley Town Council and can be found here.
If any of the other local councils in Bradford would like to explore the possibility of making a similar programme please get in touch with me by email [email protected]
