Shipley Town Council supports community led actions and local initiatives to improve our green spaces and outdoor leisure opportunities and the Shipley ‘Parks & Recreation Grant’ scheme was run for a second year in 2025/26.

Great News! Shipley Town Councillors agreed at their meeting on Thursday 26 March 2026 to fund all projects submitted.

£3,580 was available this year for the scheme.  Bids for each individual project can be for any amount up to a maximum of £1,000 and should enhance the provision and enjoyment of Shipley parks, green spaces and outdoor recreational pursuits.  Shipley residents and/or biodiversity should benefit from the project.

The deadline for receipt of applications has now passed (midnight on Sunday 1 March 2026).

Here is a summary of the applications funded (you can link through to the full application):

During the process hard copies could also be found in the Kirkgate Community Centre and Shipley Library with summaries on notice boards.  This was so that the community could ask any questions about them.

This scheme is now closed to new applications.  Look out for it opening up again in 2026/27.  It supports funding bids for projects local people and organisations would like to run.  You do not need to ask for the maximum amount – ideas requiring smaller amounts of funding will be welcome. Groups and organisations comprising young people are particularly welcome to apply together with those who haven’t applied before.
