Main Hall, Kirkgate Community Centre, 39A Kirkgate, Shipley, BD18 3EH

This public meeting is for Shipley residents to raise issues of local interest and concern.  It is organised by Shipley Town Council but is not a Town Council meeting.  Holding this meeting is a legal requirement.  Every elector in the town has a right to attend and to speak.

In addition to the “open floor”, the Town Council will give reports on its work during the year.  Representatives of the Council’s committees, and a selection of organisations in receipt of a council grant, will speak about their work and how they have spent the money.

In the second half of the meeting, we will hear from a selection of local businesses active in the Shipley business forum and will award people in our community who have offered outstanding service to our community.

The Shipley Community Awards will cover ten categories:

Contribution to the local economy
Contribution to arts and culture
Contribution to community engagement and inclusion
Contribution to improving health
Contribution to reducing inequality
Contribution to creating a cleaning up the town
Contribution to education and learning
Contribution to improving biodiversity
Contribution to reducing crime
Contribution to conserving the town’s heritage

Look out for further details of the Community Awards nomination process, to be announced in April.
