Seven applications have been received for a share of Shipley Town Council’s £7,000 pot for helping local people and organisations address climate change.
These ideas include learning how to make a difference through knitting and other interactive workshops, building a sustainable food network, creating an active travel map of places to connect with nature and planting several gardens ranging from a bog garden to one focusing on edible plants and another where school children can actively learn.
Rather than councillors deciding which ideas should get the money the Town Council is holding a public meeting on Saturday 27 January, starting at 11am, in Northcliffe Church halls, Bradford Road, Shipley.
If you live, work or study in Shipley you are invited to come along and hear directly from these people about their ideas and how Shipley will benefit. Then you will be asked to choose which will be given a grant by voting for your favorites.
Whilst the votes are being counted you will be able to enjoy a complimentary choice of homemade soup for lunch, before hearing which ideas you’ve chosen for funding.
It is also hoped you will be able to start getting involved with your favorites, if you would like to, as the majority of ideas have opportunities to do this.
All seven applications are below for you to take an early look at, together with full information about the process that lets Shipley people decide how we begin to tackle climate change.
Please come along on 27 January to have your say on how the Town Council spends some of its money.
