Shipley Town Council is a relatively new local authority at the parish-tier comprising 11 unpaid councillors who are passionate about improving the town’s centre, business opportunities and green spaces.
It now invites expressions of interest from grant fundraisers and grant fundraising organisations, to find and secure external funds to increase the number of projects it can undertake for the benefit of the Shipley community.
The initial budget for fundraising in 2023/24 is £5,000.
The services:
- Work with the Town Council Chair and Committee Chairs to help the Town Council increase its income by at least a quarter during 2023/24 (aspiring to double it over three years).
- Take responsibility for securing small and medium sized grants
Demonstrable skills and experience required:
- Track record of securing five figure funding from trusts and foundations (and ideally to have experience of fundraising for local authorities)
- Ability to write high quality, comprehensive and persuasive funding applications (excellent written skills and attention to detail)
- Experience of managing reporting and relationships with engaged funders (there may also be opportunities to engage in project and event planning for a successful person with those skills)
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Fast paced and flexible approach to work
In addition, the Town Council requires the successful individual/organisation to meet, as a minimum, the following essential criteria:
- Acknowledgement of responsibility for taxes and National Insurance contributions and that no employment rights will derive from the contract.
- Proof of employers’ liability insurance (as applicable) and public liability insurance to £5 million.
- An awareness of and commitment to the Public Sector Equality Duty arising from the Equalities Act 2010.
- At least one written reference/testimony from the commissioner of another income generation or fundraising activity, application or event on which the supplier has worked previously.
Individuals and organisations wishing to express an interest should do so in not more than two sides of A4 by e-mail, addressed to the Town Clerk, ([email protected]) by midnight on 21 July 2023. The application should provide details of the relevant knowledge, skills and experience of the individual(s) or
organisation.
From the expressions of interest received, the Town Council will ideally produce a shortlist of three suppliers for more detailed discussions on the afternoon of Thursday 27 July 2023. Written quotations will then be required, from which a supplier will be chosen and contract prepared.
Shipley Town Council intends to appoint the preferred supplier on 1 August 2023.
For an informal discussion, please contact the Town Clerk in the first instance on 07517 742566.
